CELEBRATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

During the month of March 2025, the SACSSP celebrated with the entire world, World Social Work Day on 18 March 2025 under the theme “Strengthening Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Wellbeing” which emphasises the importance of caring and respecting across generations to build strong societies, sustain the environment and share wisdom for a better future. The President and Vice-President of Council, Members of the Professional Board for Social Work and the Registrar attended events held across the country and delivered messages of support. The SACSSP commends and appreciates all the stakeholders, in particular employers of social workers and social auxiliary workers for the efforts they put in hosting the memorable events in celebration of World Social Work Day 2025. The SACSSP is pleased to notice that this day is being celebrated in numbers each year. Since the manual registration process started on 01 March 2025 as an interim measure, 259  manual applications were processed and the Registration Division is currently processing outstanding applications. The SACSSP is pleased to announce that the challenges related to the issuing of registration certificates were resolved and all 266 registrants who were issued with confirmation letters have now been issued with registration certificates. As at 31 March 2025, 20,887 practice cards were processed by the Finance Division and 19,331 registrants received their practice cards. For the remaining 1,556 practice cards, 463  were returned due to incorrect email addresses on the SACSSP’s database, while for 1,093 no email addresses were registered on the SACSSP’s database. The SACSSP is urging all social service professionals to update their contact details as well as change in residential and or postal address as required by the Act and Regulations, as this will assist in ensuring that registrants receive important communication from the SACSSP.
